Appeal for Referees and Assistants
from the PSFC Committee
As the largest fencing competition in the country, the Public Schools' Fencing Championships rely on the help volunteered by adults and pupils (current and former) from participating schools to enable it to run smoothly.
Whilst the committee realises that some schools entering fencers may not have someone with the knowledge and ability to referee fencing bouts, we also need adults able to offer other forms of assistance to the competition organisers to help the event run smoothly.
May we draw your attention to the fact that it is an entry requirement of the competition that on any day a school has five or more fencers competing, they provide at least one referee / assistant to help the organisers on that day.
Confusion has also arisen over per diems. Whilst we may offer up to £50 per day to students in higher education who come along to referee for us, there now seems to be an expectancy that current school pupils, who may not be fencing on any particular day, will also receive payment if they referee. That is not the case. |
